27 week appt

I had my 27 week appt with a midwife on Thursday. I also had the glucose and other blood tests. I don't have gestational diabetes and everything looks good except my platelet count is low (114). Midwife says not to worry and they will continue to monitor it. If it's low when I'm in labor it may effect the type of pain meds I can have which I know translates to no epidural. I haven't decided how I feel about having an epidural so we will see what happens. Dragon baby's heartbeat was 140. Next appt is in 4 weeks then I start bi-weekly appts.

As if on cue for the third trimester, I started feeling REALLY tired this week. I can hardly keep my eyes open after 5:00. This adds a whole new dynamic to work since I'm super busy with my clients right now and I should be working 10 hour days. I can tell my tiredness is effecting how I manage my teams, my patience is really short. One of the guys that reports to me even said he could hear the stress in my voice! And I actually like him! This week my goal is to more pleasant, I don't want to be the stereo-typical raging pregnant lady!! I bought cookies for one of my teams on Thursday but I don't think this is enough coming from a pregnant sugar addict. Especially since I ate 2.

26 weeks belly shot!

I can't believe I'm 6 1/2 mos pregnant. Time flies when you're busy eating. This is my last week of the second trimester.

Encouraging words from Drew this past weekend:

"you're going to need plus size clothes soon"
And
"wow, you really look pregnant now"

My ankles are very swollen by the end of everyday - so bad that I can't see my ankle bones. Dragon Baby is active everyday, mostly around lunch. Ryan is looking to seeing my belly move.

My next appointment is next week!

Nursery theme - Owls!

We officially decided on the nursery theme - the owl print by Dwell Studio. I think it's super cute (naturally in my colors), also the fabric is readily available online so it'll be easy to find cute coordinates. Even though everyone says we won't use the nursery for the first few months, I'm thinking I'll be in there quite a bit considering it's about 25% of our house. We're not going crazy with decorating but some of this stuff is too cute to pass up!

Steph's weekend alone

Ryan spent the weekend celebrating Brian's impending nuptials in a RV, touring breweries with DJ, Rod, Willie, and Phil (and Brian). I thought I should document what I did this weekend so someday I can remind myself how I spent my free time pre-Baby Dragon.

On Friday I worked from home, took the dogs for a walk, and rented The Help and Harry Potty #7 part 2. The Help was great. I was really looking forward to finishing the Harry Potter series until 2 minutes in I realized that I had already seen all of them. D'oh!

Saturday I volunteered with Junior League for Princess Project - a charity that provides an awesome shopping experience for high-schoolers looking for a prom dress - all for free. Princess Projects serves 1200 girls annually with very little fundraising or advertising. We were there to help organize the 1000s of dresses in the "collection." My job was to sort through the new donations to decide what stayed and what to donate elsewhere. I was really impressed with how many beautiful dresses they had - the racks looked like they were straight out of Bloomies.

Afterwards I headed to Stanford Mall to try out the new grilled cheese sandwich place everyone has been raving about (it was ok, not worth the $9) and did a bit of browsing. Took the dogs hiking, ate some dinner, and watched Sex in the City The Movie (I know...). I have this vision (most likely dislusional) that when I'm off from work with Dragon Baby I'll be able to go hiking by myself with him and the dogs during the day. I'm starting to realize Bowzer and Olive don't share my vision. They think if Ryan isn't around it's ok to act like idiots.

Sunday I met Becky, Courtney, Nika, Sarah, and Jackson (Dragon Baby's future BFF) for brunch in Oakland. It was so much fun to see these girls, it had been over a year since we all were together. Of course Jackson was the highlight, he was so much fun to hold before stuffing my face with pancakes. Afterwards, Court and I went to get a pedicure, I ran errands, took the dogs on a walk, made dinner, etc. Not very exciting.

Looking forward to having Ryan home! Bowzer and Olive don't respond to my dialogue as well as he does. Also, Bowzer is not very good at taking photos so I'll post a new belly pic once the real photographer is back.
