He received some very nice toys: a tricycle from JAD, a ride on bull dozer from Nana & Pop pop, an activity table from Gma&Gpa and a wagon from Uncle drew.

Brent's First Birthday
We had a very fun first birthday celebration for Brentley. It was so much fun to have about 15 of his friends and 25 adults at our house to celebrate. He was so lucky to have Uncle Justin, Aunt Adri & Dylan from San Diego and AuntieCourtney from LA come for the party. We BBQ'd polish dogs, brats & chicken sausages and had beans, quinoa salad, artichoke squares and homemade cupcakes. Brent had his first dessert, he seemed to like the cupcake but didn't go crazy about it. Even though Brent is still too little to get it, I think he had a great time seeing all the kids and running around.

Brent is almost 1
Blog was having some technical challenges but now we're back...
Brent is very very busy. We went to his friend, Landon's, birthday party last weekend. It was at an ice cream shop and the entire time he was walking/ running from the back door to the front door to the back door. He was by far the most energetic one year old there, I think people felt a little sorry for me. All the other babies were sticking close to Mom and Dad. :)
He loves loves dogs. Anytime he sees one, no matter how big or small or cute or ugly, he says "ooooooOOOOOOOOOOOO!!" Today he met a Newfoundland named Harley who was nice enough to give him a big wet kiss. Of course Brent loved it.
He hasn't said any real words yet other than "Dada" and "Mama" but I don't think he knows that I'm Mama and Ryan is Dada. He practices talking all the time - just not in English.
Brent is starting to get choosier with his food. He hasn't wanted lunch the last few days but will still eat breakfast and dinner. I try to distract him with bubbles or the Giants games (on t.v. - the only t.v. he watches) and usually that works. He eats a lot of yogurt, bananas, applesauce, lentils, carrots, sweet potatoes, chicken, pasta, tomato sauce, and most of all, Cheerios. I'm still making his food. He just recently has shown interest in feeding himself so I'm starting to put more finger food on his tray. It usually ends up being fed to Bowzer or Olive. His first dessert will be at his birthday party.
I'm also still nursing and pumping. It hasn't been bad but I am looking forward to the time when I'm not attached to a pump during the day. Just takes a lot of time.
We have a big party planned for this Saturday to celebrate Brent's birthday. We're expecting 17 children and 30 adults - yikes. I think we're all set thanks to Grandma Patti and Auntie Courtney helping with the food. I think the decor will be really cute - fingers crossed.
Ryan, Grandpa Steve, and Uncle Drew have been working really hard to get the house ready. In the last 6 weeks we have finished landscaping the front yard, built a new deck, built a new side gate, built a gate across the driveway, and repaired damage Bowzer did when he was a puppy. This has been extra difficult having Brent. For example, I went to the nursery with B and purchased 40 plants (that in itself was challenging, especially since I don't know anything about plants) and then had them delivered. The deck took Ryan longer than expected and I was occupied with Brent so Monday morning we scrambled to find someone to get the plants in the ground before we were going out of town the following weekend. It ended up working out but it so much more difficult to get projects done.
